Since 2014, Bible Way Ministries in Southeast Atlanta, Georgia has collaborated with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation to offer mobile HIV testing during the church’s community food bank events. Dr. Monte Norwood, Bible Way Ministries’ senior pastor, has been working for decades to address stigma in the Black community. By getting tested himself, Dr. Norwood is taking action to address human suffering through compassion and empathy. His congregation fully supports this ministry.

Bible Way Ministries is just one church among a national network of African American faith leaders and religious institutions working under the NAACP’s “The Black Church & HIV: The Social Justice Imperative” to address HIV prevention and stigma in Black communities. Recently, Bible Way Ministries’ HIV programs and activities have shifted from the church itself to its non-profit arm, Milestones Community Development Corporation, to make a greater impact in the church’s physical and faith communities.
