Title
Dr. Monte Norwood, Bible Way Ministries, Atlanta stands by a mobile HIV testing van
Description
Since 2014, Bible Way Ministries in Southeast Atlanta has been collaborating with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation to offer mobile HIV testing during the church’s community food bank events. Dr. Monte Norwood, Bible Way Ministries’ senior pastor, has been working for decades to address stigma in the Black community, particularly towards gay and bisexual men—the group most impacted by HIV—and the AIDS disease. By getting tested himself, Dr. Norwood is taking action to address human suffering through compassion and empathy. His congregation fully supports this ministry.
Bible Way Ministries is just one church among a national network of African American faith leaders and religious institutions working under the NAACP’s “The Black Church & HIV: The Social Justice Imperative” to address HIV prevention and stigma in Black communities.
