Church fans are iconic in Black churches across the U.S. Each year, The Center for Black Health & Equity produces a new design to distribute among churches. These fans were distributed in Milwaukee, serving as both factsheets and cooling devices.

Since 2014, The Center for Black Health & Equity in Durham, North Carolina has encouraged faith-based organizations across the country to participate in its “No Menthol Sunday” annual observance.

The initiative started as a conversation piece for faith-based communities to help members of their congregation quit smoking and understand the benefits of living tobacco-free. Since then, hundreds of churches and organizations in over 35 states have held events and participated in No Menthol Sunday.

No Menthol Sunday participating organizations are encouraged to find retailers who pledge not to sell menthol tobacco products for one day. Also As part of its No Menthol Sunday campaigns, The Center for Black Health & Equity provides faith leaders examples of sermons and presentations that they can customize for their own congregations.
